Mayoral Roll of Honour continues to celebrate outstanding achievements

21 February 2023

Since June 2022, the Mayoral Roll of Honour – launched by the Mayor of Thurrock, Cllr James Halden – has recognised 26 individuals and groups for their inspiring work to support others in the community.

The initiative encourages residents to nominate charities, businesses, individuals and community groups whose work has gone above and beyond to service Thurrock in extraordinary ways, making the borough a greater place to live, work, learn and play.

Cllr Halden said: "I'm incredibly proud of the amazing, heart-warming stories the Roll of Honour has captured so far, showcasing the goodwill and passion of Thurrock people to help others and inspire countless more to follow their lead.

"Whether it's raising thousands to install life-saving defibrillators in local schools and across the community, voluntarily translating at welcome events for Ukrainian refugees, or working quietly behind the scenes to bring local events to life for our residents to enjoy, the Roll of Honour has uncovered so many acts of kindness and community-spirit, ensuring they get the attention and commendation they rightly deserve.

"With the Roll of Honour set to be updated with even more nominations at Full Council in March, I'd like to encourage everyone to consider who they know across the borough that has dedicated their time to improving the lives of others, and put them forward for this prestigious award today."
