Roger Harris, Corporate Director of Adults, Housing and Health at Thurrock Council, has decided after 13 years' service in Thurrock and 40 years working in health and social care to have an agreed and planned exit from the council. He will leave in March 2021 to pursue other outside interests. Recruitment is underway to appoint a successor in due course.
Cllr Rob Gledhill, Leader of Thurrock Council, said: "Roger has been an exceptional and dedicated senior officer at Thurrock Council for well over a decade. His calm professionalism and excellent leadership will be greatly missed.
"Roger has helped transform adult social care by improving partnership working with the voluntary sector and health partners to support Thurrock's most vulnerable residents and introducing much valued initiatives such as the local area co-ordinators in the community.
"In Housing we have seen vastly improved tenant engagement helping to ensure the provision of better services through his leadership.
"I wish Roger all the very best and thank him for all his hard work for the people of Thurrock."
