Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984

Temporary Prohibition or Restriction of Traffic

The Borough of Thurrock (Stanford-le-Hope) (20mph Zone)

1) Notice is hereby given that Thurrock Borough Council, in exercise of the powers conferred by sections 84 to the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 (“the 1984 Act”) and of all other enabling powers and after consultation with the Chief Officer of Police in accordance with Part III of Schedule 9 to the 1984 Act, intends to make the above named Order (“the Proposed Order”).

2) The general effect of the Order would be to introduce a 20mph zone at the location(s)/ roads specified below: -

I.    Butts Lane, from the roundabout with London Road to the roundabout with St. Andrews Way
II.    Oxford Road, for its entire length
III.    Valmar Avenue, for its entire length
IV.    Old Jenkins Close, for its entire length
V.    Romsey Close, for its entire length
VI.    Rayleigh Road, for its entire length
VII.    Ruskin Road, for its entire length 
VIII.    Prospect Avenue, for its entire length 
IX.    Brockenhurst Drive, for its entire length
X.    Lulworth Close, for its entire length 
XI.    Runnymede Road, for its entire length
XII.    Wilson Close, for its entire length
XIII.    Chantry Crescent, from northern boundary wall of 16 Chantry Crescent to its junction with Rectory Road
XIV.    Fairway Avenue, for its junction with Rectory Road to its junction with Fairview Chase
XV.    Rectory Road, for its entire length
XVI.    The Hollies, for its entire length
XVII.    Hadfield Road, for its entire length
XVIII.    Warren Close, for its entire length
XIX.    Copland Road, for its entire length
XX.    Walkers Square, for its entire length
XXI.    Billet Lane, for its entire length
XXII.    Kynoch Court, for its entire length
XXIII.    Rainbow Lane, from its junction with Corringham Road to its junction with Billet Lane

3) A copy of the Proposed Order together with the plans can be viewed on Thurrock Council’s website at thurrock.gov.uk/publicnotices. Alternatively, the proposals can be viewed by appointment during normal office hours (Monday-Friday, 9am-4pm) by contacting the Transport Delivery Team via troconsultations@thurrock.gov.uk. 4) Any objection / support to the Proposed Order must be made in writing, giving the grounds on which it is made and sent to the following address Civic Offices, New Road, Grays, RM17 6SL or sent via email to troconsultations@thurrock.gov.uk to arrive on or before 18th September 2025. Any objection / support may be communicated to other persons who may be affected.
