Traffic Regulation Order (TRO)

Temporary prohibition or restriction on roads

The Manorway and Rookery Hill, Coryton

1) The Borough Council of Thurrock, in exercise of their powers under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 and all other powers, intends to make an Order the effect of which is to:

  • prohibit any vehicle travelling along the farthest southeast section of Rookery Hill B1420 at its junction with A1014 The Manorway for a distance of approximately 36m in a north direction
  • prohibit any vehicle travelling along the southwest carriageway of Rookery Hill B1420 from where it meets the southeast carriageway of Rookery Hill to its junction with A1014 The Manorway
  • prohibit any vehicle using the lay-bys on the eastbound carriageway on the Manorway, Coryton, from its farthest west junction with Rookery Hill for a distance of approximately 410m
  • prohibit any vehicle from exceeding 30mph on the eastbound carriageway of the A1014 The Manorway from a point approximately 119m east of the exit junction of Giffords Cross Road for approximately 164m
  • prohibit any vehicle from exceeding 10mph on the eastbound carriageway from opposite Thames Haven Road junction with Chase Road, to Atlantic Avenue as shown by signs on site
  • prohibit any vehicle from turning right into Pacific Avenue from The Manorway

2) The purpose of the Order is to enable Thurrock Council to carry out carriageway resurfacing.

3) The alternative route for those wishing to travel southbound onto The Manorway from Rookery Hill will be Rookery Hill northbound, Church Road, Giffords Cross Road and The Manorway. The alternative route for those wishing to turn right into Pacific Avenue from The Manorway will be to continue eastbound on The Manorway to the roundabout and travel westbound on The Manorway.

4) In this Order the lay-bys from its junction with Rookery Hill are defined as:

i) the lay-by approximately 8m from the most western junction of Rookery Hill for a distance of approximately 138m in a southeast direction
ii) the lay-by approximately 140m distance from the most eastern junction with Rookery Hill for a distance of approximately 40m in a southeast direction

5) The Order will come into force on Monday 10 July 2023 at 9pm and will be in force nightly for four nights between the hours of 9pm and 5am until Friday 15 July at 5am. It only applies to those days and times when indicated on site by the presence of the appropriate traffic signs in accordance with The Traffic Signs Regulations and General Directions 2016.

6) It is expected that the works will be completed within the above times, however the Order will continue in force for a period not exceeding 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the sooner.

7) If the works are not completed within 18 months, the Order may be extended for a longer period with the approval of the Secretary of State.
