Street cleaning

More street cleaners working to 'clean it'

More street cleaners help to keep the borough litter-free. They are out with barrows, sweeping and litter-picking, making sure streets get cleaned every 10 days. In Grays Town Centre, street cleaners work every weekday from 6am to 6pm.

Clean streets and public footpaths

We clean streets and public footpaths on a 10 working-day schedule. High streets and busy areas are cleaned and litter-picked more often.

We are not responsible for street cleaning on:

  • private roads and alleyways – these are the responsibility of their residents
  • Highways England roads

You should contact Highways England for matters concerning:

  • A13 – from Junction 30 to the Tilbury slip road and to the A1089
  • A1089 Dock Approach Road – from the A13 to Asda roundabout
  • St Andrew's Road – from Asda roundabout to Tilbury Dock gate

Excluding the roads above, if your street is not cleaned on a regular basis, or you wish to tell us about a significant build up of litter in your street, report it to us.
