Thurrock Council has applied to the High Court for an injunction preventing unauthorised encampments. The first hearing took place on Wednesday 31 July 2019.
The hearing allowed for the service of the papers to commence on:
- 107 named defendants
- each of the sites that are to be protected against unauthorised encampments

The claim for an interim injunction was heard on 3 September 2019 in the High Court of Justice, Royal Courts of Justice, Strand, London.
Amendment
Following the Order of Mr Justice Nicklin dated 24 May 2021, the Interim Injunction currently held by Thurrock Council has been amended. The Interim Injunction, as originally granted, contained a power of arrest against persons unknown. That power of arrest has now been discharged as against persons unknown, but remains in place against the named individuals.

Directions order and notice of trial date
On 27 May 2022, a Directions Order was issued giving 'directions to final hearing'. Notice was given in June 2022 that the trial date would be 27 July 2022. A copy of the Directions Order and the notice of trial date can be downloaded below.
