Basildon Hospital births
We do not hold any records for any births at Basildon Hospital – previously part of Basildon and Thurrock University Hospital NHS Foundation Trust – and we cannot provide new or historic certificates for people born there.

Certificates you can order
You can order copies of certificates from 1837 to the present day for persons in Aveley, parts of Bulphan, Chadwell St Mary, Chafford Hundred, Corringham, Coryton, East Tilbury, Fobbing, Grays, Linford, Little Thurrock, Mucking, North Stifford, Orsett, Orsett Heath, Purfleet, South Ockendon, South Stifford, Stanford-le-Hope, Stifford Clays, Tilbury, West Thurrock and West Tilbury.
You can also order copies of birth and death certificates from 1 July 1948 to 30 September 1961 for persons in Canvey Island, Hadleigh, South Benfleet and Thundersley.
We only provide 'standard' certificates, which have all the information that most authorities need for proof of registration. We do not provide 'short' versions of certificates.

How to order a certificate
To order a certificate, send your request to Thurrock Register Office using the form below, including:
- your name, phone number and postal address
- the type of certificate you would like to order – birth, marriage, civil partnership or death
- details of the certificate
Certificate requests for events not held in Thurrock will incur a search fee of up to half the certificate fee.
All statutory fees for certificates are non-refundable.
When will I receive the certificate?
Certificates can be provided within 15 working days, plus delivery time, or you can choose a 24-hour service.
If you order before 3pm, the 24-hour service allows you to collect the certificate from Thurrock Register Office after the same time on the next working day, or we can post it you.
If you order after 3pm, you must add an extra day for the 24-hour service.
Working days are Monday to Friday, except for UK bank holidays.
Postage and Collection
If you have requested to collect your certificate, we will contact you when it is ready for collection from the Register Office, Civic Offices, New Road, Grays, RM17 6SL.
For certificates that you would like us to post, please allow extra time for your certificate to arrive in the post as we send them via 2nd class post as standard.
There is the option to pay an additional fee for the certificates to be sent via Special Delivery.
Please note, we will not be held responsible for post that does not arrive. We are unable to replace certificates which go missing in the post, these will need to be ordered and paid for again.
We recommend that orders over £50 should be collected or sent via Special Delivery.
