Day services for adults

Day Centres are for people that need someone to keep an eye on them during the day, but would like the opportunity to socialise and enjoy a hot meal cooked for them.

They are best known for supporting people aged 65 and over, but there are groups to support a range of needs. For example, people who:

• feel isolated and lonely
• have mental health problems
• are suffering from illness, such as cancer

Day Centre activities

Day Centres are usually open all day, offering a safe supervised environment. Staff and volunteers organise activities such as:

• board games
• bingo
• guest speakers
• craft activities
• entertainment
• exercise classes
• day trips

Light snacks are provided in the morning and afternoon, and a hot meal at lunchtime.

Costs

Charges can vary, but Day Centres do not try to make a profit. There may be a charge for the cost of your meal, and often a small amount for coffee or tea, as well as raffles to help out with the cost of special events during the year.
