Following your awarding of £1,231,415 from the UK Shared Prosperity Fund, please can you detail how much of this funding has been allocated to the 'Communities & Place' investment strand over the entire funding period?

In addition, of the £149,444 of UKSPF funding allocated to be spent in 2022 - 2023, could you please confirm how much of this has been allocated to the 'Communities & Place' investment strand and provide as much detail as to the reporting criteria as set out below:

Following your awarding of £1,231,415 from the UK Shared Prosperity Fund, please can you detail how much of this funding has been allocated to the 'Communities & Place' investment strand over the entire funding period?  A total of £596,481 was allocated to Communities & Place in the approved Thurrock investment plan, 48% of the total. 

In addition, of the £149,444 of UKSPF funding allocated to be spent in 2022 - 2023, could you please confirm how much of this has been allocated to the 'Communities & Place' investment strand and provide as much detail as to the reporting criteria as set out below: In 2022/23 £137,276 was allocated to the Communities and Place theme (92%).  Due to the late start of the UKSPF programme total spend was £34,946 in this theme, across two projects.

  • Name of Project Safer Streets – Positive Presence
  • Project Description – a brief description of the project This project added value to existing investment in tackling crime and anti-social behaviour in the Grays area. Through this intervention and by extending our Safer Streets initiative, the project supported active use of the high street and public spaces in Grays.  It did so by increasing the provision of environmental enforcement officers to support police and be a visible deterrent to crime and anti-social behaviour so as to improve community safety and provide a welcoming and safe town centre environment for Thurrock residents, businesses and visitors.

  • The main UKSPF intervention the project has been set up to support - primary intervention, based on spend E5 Built & landscaped environment to design out crime
  • Location – Project Postcode or Project Delivery Postcode (if applicable). Local Authority Areas that will benefit  Grays Town Centre, Thurrock
  • Delivery Lead – name of the organisation delivering project  Thurrock Council
  • Type of Organisation delivering project – for example, VSO, Private Sector etc Public sector
  • Status – that is, Planned, Live, Finished (completed), Closed (stopped early)  Finished
  • Reason for closure – if project has closed early rather than being successfully completed  n/a – agreed one year interim funding.
  • Name of Project: Cultural Champion – project officer
  • Project Description – a brief description of the project: Funding for a project officer – a cultural champion - with a small budget for commissioning activities in support of the implementation of the emerging Thurrock Cultural Strategy.
