Response: 

1. How many officers staff the emergency planning team ?  3.5 Full Time Equivalent (Since 01 November 2023)

2. What your role actually involves? (job description) .  We have a statutory duty to ensure there are effective arrangements in place to respond to emergencies and deal with disruptions affecting public services in Thurrock.

During an emergency, we will, among other activities:

  • support the emergency services, as requested
  • provide support to people affected by an emergency
  • provide suitable transportation to support response efforts
  • liaise with and coordinate voluntary sector organisations
  • provide information to warn and inform the public
  • Minimise the disruption of services to the public

3 Why we have had no update ?  An update email was sent on 19/07/2023 to Community Forum Chair explaining the reason why the exercise will not take place as planned.

4. What venues you have listed and can use as  evacuation / rest centres  and what capacity you have to transport persons to them?  We have 21 venues around the borough with 24/7 access to transport in place.
