Freedom of information response

Schools with disabled access in the UK.

Publication date:
Wednesday 10 January 2024
Request:

I am writing to you under the Freedom of Information Act 2000 to request the following information regarding schools with disabled access in the UK.

Please could I have the following data broken down per school in the area?

1. Does the school have disabled access to every building?
2. If the answer to question 1 is no, how many do not?
3. If the answer to question 1 is no, are there plans to change this?
4. How many disabled children are there at the school currently?
5. How many money per year does the council invest in disabled children in each school? Either an overall figure or per child.

Response:

The information for Q 1-2 is in the public domain on the AccessAble website, which can be filtered by place and venues.

The information for 3-4 would be held by the schools as they are all academies or voluntary aided.

Q5 Response: The financial and performance data are not aligned to differentiate and separately identify disabled children and funding allocated. A manual process against each of the 2,200 EHCP would be required.
