Working hours for Children services
Please could you answer the below questions in relations to Emergency Duty Service/Out of Hours working for Children services
- Please provide details of pay scales for employees in your Emergency Duty Service/Out of Hours service within Children's Services. These roles should include Social Workers, Senior Practitioners, Team Managers, Service Managers or any roles that would align closely to this in your own structure. Please include:
- Basic Pay (permanent and temporary)
- A breakdown of any additional payments/pay enhancements i.e. out of hours, flat rate allowance, AMHP payment etc
- Benefits this service is entitled to as part of wider pay and reward package?
- Please provide details on shift patterns used in the service and if possible an example rota?
- Please provide details on how bank holidays are remunerated for any out of hours working?
Thurrock Council’s pay scales are listed in the below table. Social Workers are Grade E, Senior Practitioners are Grade F, Teams Managers are Grade G and Service Managers are Grade H. The basic pay rates for each grade are provided in the table.
The above posts are also entitled to a market supplement amounting to £5,400 per annum
In relation to the specific emergency duty payments, we operate a rota for sessions with a 14 hour duration. The below payment rates apply:
- £100 for periods starting Monday to Friday
- £125 for periods starting on a Saturday or Sunday
- £150 for periods falling on a Bank Holiday
The above rates are for sessions with a duration 14 hours and are inclusive of any time spent on work/telephone calls which do not involve leaving the home. Midweek sessions will cover the period of 17:30 until 7:30 the following day. Weekend sessions will be allocated to provide full out of hours cover as follows: Friday night – 5.30pm -7am, Saturday - 9am -7pm and 7pm – 7am, Sunday – 9am – 7pm and 7pm – 7am Monday
