Peer Review and Consultations

Where Housing Services is now - Summer 2026

Over the past 12 months, the Council’s Housing Services has been taking a close look at how we work. Our aim is to make sure we provide good quality homes and service for you, our tenants.

Campbell Tickell were brought in to undertake an in-depth review of our asset management as well as provide a 'critical friend' review of the Housing Revenue Account (HRA) business plan.

We asked the Local Government Association (LGA) to carry out a peer review.

A peer review is when a small team of expert local government officers and councillors come to Thurrock to speak to officers, managers and tenants and produce an independent report on their findings.

We commissioned a review from Pennington Choices to assess our compliance with the Regulator of Social Housing’s (RSH) Safety and Quality Standard. The review evaluates our current position, considers its self-assessment, identifies any gaps or areas requiring improvement, and highlights existing strengths that can be developed over the next 12 months to increase assurance of compliance with the standard.
