Thurrock Council has officially published notice of the upcoming local election which will take place on Thursday 7 May.
Elections will be held for all 49 seats and in 20 wards across Thurrock for the first time since 2004, with each ward being represented by either two or three councillors.
This will mean some changes for voters.
- As all seats are up for election, all voters will be able to vote for either two or three candidates depending on the size of their ward.
- Following a boundary review, ward boundaries and names may have changed. For more information on wards, visit: https://www.thurrock.gov.uk/local-elections-2026/information-for-voters
- In some cases electors will vote at new polling stations. To find out which polling station you need to attend, visit: https://www.thurrock.gov.uk/local-elections-2026/information-for-voters#polling-stations or check your polling card.
If you are interested in standing for election, nominations for candidates are open until 4pm Thursday 9 April. Anyone who wants to stand in the election can download a nomination paper and a consent to nomination form from the Electoral Commission website.
More information about standing as a candidate can be found on the Thurrock Council website.
