Street lighting

Power supply faults

Power supply connections and underground cable repairs for street lights are carried out by UK Power Networks – the Distribution Network Operator (DNO) for Thurrock.

When we find that a problem with the power supply, cabling, switching points or electrical sub-station is affecting a street light, we ask the DNO to carry out repairs within 28 working days.

If the problem was reported to us through our online highways reporting service, we will close the case and advise: "this is a matter for UK Power Networks – we have passed it to them, and they will investigate within 28 days".

We cannot control how long it takes the DNO to repair a fault. Repairs to the energy supply of homes and businesses may take priority. Ofgem is the government regulator for DNO services.
