Adult care partnerships and boards

Health and Wellbeing Board

The Health and Wellbeing Board works to improve health and care services, and the health and well-being of local people.

Purpose

The purpose of the board is to:

  • improve health and well-being
  • reduce inequalities in health and well-being
  • make sure Thurrock's health and well-being arrangements provide what is required by law
  • decide priorities for health improvement in Thurrock
  • oversee the development and implementation of Thurrock's Health and Wellbeing Strategy

Meetings

The board meets a minimum of 6 times a year. Meetings are open to the public, although for some items the press and public may be asked to leave.

You can find details of the purpose and membership of the Health and Wellbeing Board online, along with all Health and Wellbeing Board agenda, reports and minutes.

Decisions and actions

The board works at a strategic level, with actions being taken through existing partnership arrangements. Sometimes this may include setting-up 'task and finish' groups.

The decisions and work of the board are scrutinised by the Health and Wellbeing Overview and Scrutiny Committee, and other overview and scrutiny committees as appropriate. HealthWatch has a scrutiny function.
