If an owner wishes to dispose of an asset that is included in the list of assets of community value and it is not an exempt disposal, they must notify us in writing.

The list of assets of community value will be updated to show we have received notice of an intention to dispose of the asset, together with the:
- date of the notification
- interim moratorium period – a pause of 6 weeks in which eligible groups may give notice that they intend to bid
- full moratorium period – a pause of 6 months to allow proposals to be developed and capital to be raised
- protected period – 18 months during which the owner is protected from repeated attempts to block a sale
We will write to the original nominator telling them we've received notice of an intention to dispose of the asset. We will also publish details in the area where the asset is situated.
