Gaming machines licence

Licensed premises gaming machine permits

A permit issued under the Gambling Act 2005 is required for premises providing machines which offer amusements with prizes.

Only premises licensed to sell alcohol for consumption on the premises, or licensed as entertainment centres are permitted to have machines.

Notification of 2 or less machines

Under the Licensing Act 2003, the holder of a premises licence has an automatic entitlement to provide up to 2 machines of categories C or D for use on the premises. The premises licence holder must notify us and pay the notification fee of £50. No annual fee is payable.

Notification of more than 2 machines

If a premises licence holder wants to make more than 2 machines available, a licensed premises gaming machine permit will be needed. The application fee is £150 and there is an annual fee of £50.
