Supported Housing Providers and Standards
Our supported housing providers deliver safe, high-quality accommodation alongside personalised support to help individuals live independently and achieve their goals.
We are committed to building positive and collaborative relationships with supported housing providers. We recognise that effective communication and partnership working are essential to delivering high-quality accommodation and support for residents.
To support this, we will:
- Maintain regular communication with providers regarding service delivery and residents' support needs.
- Work collaboratively to achieve the best outcomes for residents and promote their independence and wellbeing.
- Provide opportunities for providers to discuss queries, concerns, and service developments with Council officers.
- Invite providers to attend our regular Provider Forums, where they can receive updates, share good practice, and network with other organisations working across the borough.
- Keep providers informed of changes to commissioning requirements, priorities, rates, and future development opportunities.
- Work openly and transparently through monitoring, quality assurance, and contract management processes to support continuous service improvement.
Our aim is to create a strong partnership between the Council, providers, and residents, ensuring supported housing services remain responsive, sustainable, and focused on delivering positive outcomes.
Expected standards
To ensure high-quality supported housing is available across the borough, the Council has developed a Commissioning Intentions document, which sets out the standards and expectations for all supported housing providers.
The document outlines the accommodation, support, and service standards that providers are expected to achieve. This includes requirements relating to:
- Minimum bedroom sizes
- Bathroom and kitchen facilities
- Communal and living spaces
- Health, safety, and property standards
- Clear occupancy agreements
- Residents' rights, responsibilities, and entitlements
- The quality and consistency of support provided
These standards help ensure that people living in supported housing have access to safe, suitable accommodation and understand what they can expect from their provider, enabling them to live with dignity, choice, and independence.
Monitoring and Quality Assurance
The Council regularly monitors supported housing providers to ensure they continue to deliver safe, high-quality accommodation and support services.
As part of our quality assurance process, we carry out both announced and unannounced visits throughout the year. These visits help us assess compliance with our standards, review the quality of accommodation and support being provided, and ensure residents are receiving the services they are entitled to expect.
By working closely with providers, we aim to promote continuous improvement and ensure supported housing services deliver positive outcomes for residents.
