The Data Protection Act controls how organisations, businesses and the government use your personal information. It is the main piece of legislation that governs the protection of personal data in the UK.
At Thurrock we keep all of your records on secure computer systems and in secure manual filing systems. We will tell you:

Accessing the information we hold about you
The Data Protection Act allows you to ask us for copies of your personal information. When you request access to your information, you must:
- use our application form or ask for the information in writing
- pay a £10 fee
- provide one form of photo ID
We will respond to you within 40 days of receiving your application, fee and any additional information we need to find your data. If we can’t give you some or any of the information, we’ll tell you why.
