Reducing waste

Freegle in Thurrock

Freegle is a national grassroots organisation of people who give and receive free unwanted items in their immediate communities. Local charities, non-profit groups and communities are encouraged to join.

All groups within the organisation operate with a basic principle – all offers and requests must be freegle (free and legal).

The aim is to keep anything reusable out of our landfill sites.

The Thurrock Freegle group is open to anyone who want to 'recycle' an item rather than throw it away. Anything can be recycled as long as it's legal and still in a usable condition.

How Freegle works

When you want to find a new home for something - whether it's a chair, a fax machine, piano, or an old door - you simply send an email offering it to members of the local Freegle group.

Or, maybe you're looking to acquire something yourself. Simply respond to a member's offer, and you just might get it. After that, it's up to the giver to decide who receives the gift and to set up a pickup time for passing on the treasure.
