Bridges and boundary walls
There are 200 bridges and other structures in the borough. Each is given a general inspection every 2 years and a detailed inspection every 6 years to check what maintenance is needed.
Bridges
We carry out a bridge assessment and strengthening programme to make sure our bridges are able to carry 40 tonne loads, as required by law.
Boundary walls
If you see a boundary wall that you believe may be dangerous, please report it to us for checking.
This includes highway retaining walls and walls providing a safety barrier.
