Careline is an emergency home alarm system that runs 24 hours a day, every day of the year. It is available for all tenants in Thurrock who are either:

• elderly
• disabled
• vulnerable
• suffering from a chronic sickness

Careline is easy to install. We plug it into your telephone socket and a nearby electrical socket. We will also take essential details for future emergencies. The whole process takes about 30 minutes. When installed:

• you can wear a special pendant around your neck
• in an emergency, press the alarm button on the pendant or on your lifeline unit to call for help
• our control centre staff will talk to you wherever you are in your home
• you do not have to lift your telephone handset or touch the phone at all
• even if you cannot speak we will be able to identify you and provide help
• we will visit you or call your key holder or emergency services if necessary

You can use Careline if you:

• have fallen and cannot get up
• cannot move due to sudden illness
• need urgent medical attention
• need to urgently contact the emergency services
• suspect you have a bogus caller
• just need reassurance at any time
