Payments

Pay by direct debit

Direct debit is the easiest way to pay.

Council tax

You can set up a direct debit for your council tax by logging-in to My Account. You can create an account if you don't already have one.

My Account – council tax

Direct debit payers can choose from 2 extra payment dates: the 18th and 28th of each month. If you choose these dates you will pay over 10 months unless you ask that we change your payment plan to 12 monthly instalments.

Business rates

You can use the form below to set up a direct debit for business rates.

You can choose to pay either in 10 or 12 monthly instalments.

Rent

You can use the form below to set up a direct debit for your council rent payments.

You can choose to pay your rent on either the 1st, 7th, 15th or 24th of each month.

Advantages of direct debit

If you choose to pay by direct debit it means you will always know in advance how much will be taken from your account, and when. No money will be collected unless you have given permission.

You will receive confirmation that your direct debit has been set up. You will be told of the amounts due before the first payment is taken.

Direct debit guarantee

This guarantee is offered by all banks and building societies that take part in the direct debit scheme:

  • the efficiency and security of the scheme is monitored and protected by your own bank or building society
  • we will notify you at least 10 working days in advance of your account being debited, or as otherwise agreed, if either the amounts to be paid or the payment dates change
  • you will get a full and immediate refund from your branch if we make an error, or your bank or building society makes an error
  • you can cancel a direct debit at any time by writing to your bank or building society – please also send us a copy of your letter
