Development plans
Development work will begin once the existing 36 homes have been demolished.
New homes
A total of 48 new homes will be built, of which:
- 30 will be a mix of 2-bedroom, 3-bedroom and 4-bedroom houses
- 18 will be a mix of 1-bedroom and 2-bedroom flats in 3 blocks, each 2-storeys high
Construction is expected to take up to 2 years from when building work begins. This estimate depends on several factors, so it could change.
Parking
75 parking spaces will be provided for residents to use. This will allow more than enough capacity for visitors and future growth in car ownership, without affecting on-street parking in the area.
On-street parking will be provided for residents. Individual spaces will not be reserved as per council policy – parking will be on a first-come, first-served basis.
Roads
Our development contractor will use a construction management plan to deal with any potential impact on surrounding streets.
Teviot Avenue is located within walking and cycling distance of public transport routes and local services such as shops and schools. This makes it easier for residents to reduce their reliance on cars. We understand, however, that having a car is still important for many residents.
We want to make sure the local highway network can cope with any extra traffic. Our plans have looked at where work might be needed, such as traffic calming or improvements to junctions. This will continue to be reviewed in detail.
Other facilities
We are not planning to build a new medical centre or new schools as part of this project, but funding from the project will be provided for health and education infrastructure in the area.
