Short term support at home

Overview

You can find a range of support to help you live independently in your own home.

Types of support include:

  • housing schemes
  • visiting
  • floating support

Who we can help

We can help:

  • people with learning disabilities
  • young parents
  • people who are old and frail

What we can’t help with

We can’t help with:

  • washing and dressing you
  • cleaning and shopping for you

Paying for your support

The council may pay for all or some of your support directly to the provider. We offer 2 types of services:

  • Short-term support is free for not more than 2 years – for example, a homeless hostel for people to get support before they move on to their own home
  • Long-term support is for more than 2 years – you may have to pay towards this but it will depend on your income, and we can also give you financial help if you cannot afford to pay
