Overview
We carry out regular programmes of works to improve council-owned housing.
Transforming Homes
From 2021 to 2026, our Transforming Homes programme will refurbish all council homes in Thurrock that have:
- kitchens over 20 years-old
- bathrooms over 30 years-old
- boilers over 15 years-old
- electrics over 25 years-old
- windows either over 30 years-old or single-glazed
- roofs over 40 years-old or 50 years-old, depending on type
We will also work to maximize energy efficiency and eradicate damp and mould.
Each eligible property will be surveyed by our Transforming Homes contractor, Wates Living Space. The survey will then be validated by an independent construction consultancy. This process can take around 4 weeks to complete, after which we will send you a letter to let you know the outcome.
While improvement works are taking place, we'll make sure your home still has working facilities at the end of each day so you won't have to move out. If you have any additional needs, please discuss them with your resident liaison officer.
You can still report repairs while waiting for Transforming Homes works to take place in your area.
