After you make a planning application

Step 1 - the application is registered

When your planning application is received at the Civic Offices it is entered onto our planning database. This plots the application against a map of Thurrock and gives us details of the surrounding area.

Our letter of acknowledgement will tell you our target date for making a decision on the application. Minor applications are usually determined within 8 weeks from the date of receiving a valid application. Major applications are usually determined within 13 weeks from the date of receiving a valid application.

All applications are publicised, sometimes by means of site notices and advertisements in the local press. The usual method, however, is to send letters to those neighbours, including businesses, most likely to be affected.
