Think Family - Interventions

The Think Family Service offers targeted support for children and young people who are experiencing challenges at home or in care. Our goal is to help families stay together safely, reduce the risk of children entering care, and support those returning home or moving on from custody.

We work closely with Social Workers and other professionals to provide the right support at the right time.

The main types of interventions we offer:

Edge of Care

Support for children and young people who are at high risk of going into care.
This includes:

  • Those who have been placed in care for a short time due to family breakdown, with a plan to return home.
  • Those who have recently returned home from care and need extra support to stay there safely.

Placement Stability

Help for children and young people already in care where their current placement is at risk of breaking down.
We work to:

  • Prevent unnecessary moves.
  • Reduce emotional stress.
  • Avoid escalation to residential care.

Reunification

Support for children and young people leaving custody who may face difficulties returning to their family or placement.
Without support, there’s a risk of further breakdown and reoffending.

Resettlement

Help for children and young people leaving custody who may need support to settle back into the community.
We aim to reduce the risk of them entering care after release.
