Think Family - Support for families
All families face challenges from time to time. A Family Network Meeting (FNM) gives families the chance to come together with support from professionals to make a plan that keeps children safe and supports their wellbeing.
What is a Family Network Meeting?
- A meeting where family members and close friends work together to find solutions and make decisions for the child’s future.
- Usually led by the child’s allocated Social Worker.
- A Family Network Meeting Facilitator from the Think Family Service may support the meeting if a referral has been made.
These meetings help families take the lead in planning for their children, with professional support where needed.
Family Time (Supervised Contact)
Family Time (previously known as supervised contact) is a special opportunity for children in care to spend quality time with their birth family.
Why is Family Time important?
- It helps children maintain a sense of identity and connection with their family.
- It supports emotional wellbeing and long-term relationships.
How does it work?
- Arranged by the child’s Social Worker in partnership with the Think Family Service.
- The frequency, duration, and location (including whether it can take place in the community) are agreed in advance.
- Family Time Supervisors support the sessions and help maintain positive relationships in a safe and structured way.
