Doorstep collections for unwanted clothing, footwear and household items 

We are working in partnership with Anglo to collect unwanted clothing, footwear and various household items from residents living in the borough free of charge. 

Items that can be collected include unwanted clothes, shoes, books, games, CDs, DVDs, crockery and various household items such as working small electricals, computers and consoles, microwaves.

Items recycled through the scheme go on to find new homes where they are needed most, a whopping 95% of items are reused, with only 5% going to be recycled. This video explains how the service works:

Once you have booked your collection the driver will come to collect, if you are not going to be home you can leave items out for them in a safe and dry place, such as a porch.

The Anglo service is not suitable for large bulky items, including furniture, but you can book a bulky waste collection from the council.

To book your collection:

1. Use the button above to book your scheduled collection. You can track on the day of collection you choose
2. Prepare your items by packing them into boxes or bin liners, before the day of their scheduled collection
3. The Anglo team will pick up your items on the scheduled date of collection, from your preferred collection point at your property.

There are lots of ways to give unwanted items a second life, reduce waste and help protect the environment. 

Before visiting a store check the retailer’s website for accepted items and any conditions that may apply.

Clothes, Shoes and Textiles

Retailer schemes include:

• Next: Visit the Next website for options on recycling unwanted clothing and other items.
• Dunelm: The Dunelm Textile Take Back Scheme helps residents find ways to give unwanted soft furnishings and textiles a second life. Check the website for current scheme details.
• Marks & Spencer: Through its Another Life initiative, M&S promotes ways to rewear, repair, recycle and resell clothing, helping customers keep clothes in use for longer. Visit M&S Another Life to find out more.
• Primark: Primark’s in-store clothing recycling scheme allows customers to bring unwanted clothing and textiles to participating stores for reuse or recycling. Find out more on the Primark website.
• Zara: Zara provides information about clothing donation and collection options through its UK website.  
• Schuh: The Sell Your Soles scheme offers a way to return old shoes for recycling. Customers may also qualify for a voucher towards a new pair, subject to the scheme’s current terms. Visit schuh for details.
• Decathlon: Give pre-loved sports equipment a second life through Decathlon’s second-hand and trade-in services. Eligible items may be exchanged for payment or a gift card, depending on the scheme. Decathlon has also offered seasonal tent return schemes.

• Boots: The Boots recycling scheme offers customers ways to return selected beauty, health and personal care packaging.

Mobile phones 

• Mobile phone networks: Providers such as O2 and Vodafone may offer trade-in or recycling services for eligible devices. Check their websites for current offers.

• Apple: Apple offers trade-in options for eligible devices and recycling for devices that cannot be traded in. Find out more through Apple Trade In.

• Ikea: Ikea’s Buyback and Resell service offers customers the opportunity to resell old items and get in-store credit. Find out more on IKEA’s website.
