How to ask for review of petitions

If you think that we have not dealt with your petition properly, you can ask for one of our overview and scrutiny committees to look at the steps we took in response to your petition.

To request an appeal, contact us, explaining why you think our response was not adequate.

Considering your request

The overview and scrutiny committee will try to look at your request at its next meeting. If they can’t, we will tell you when they will be able to.

If we have not dealt with your petition properly

If the committee decide that we have not dealt with your petition properly, they can:

  • investigate
  • make recommendations to the cabinet
  • arrange for the matter to be considered at a full council meeting

We will tell you their decision within 5 working days.
