How to become a foster carer

We must protect the children in our care and have a duty to check the suitability of applicants.

This involves making checks with:

• the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS)
• the Local Health Authority
• Ofsted
• significant family members
• 2 personal referees
• an employer reference
• schools (where appropriate)

You will also need to have a medical with your own GP – we will pay for this.
