Thurrock Museum

Coronavirus (COVID-19) – Thurrock Museum

Thurrock Museum reopens from Tuesday 14 September 2021. A one-way system will be in place for your safety, and we encourage all visitors to wear a face covering, if possible. Go to our page about the museum for opening times.

About the museum

Explore your local history at Thurrock Museum, in the Thameside Complex, Grays.

You can find more than 250,000 years of Thurrock's past in display cases with more than 1,500 objects.

Discover the mammoths from Aveley, the earliest known Thurrock coins dating to 75BC, prehistoric flint tools, Roman pottery, Saxon artefacts, medieval finds from Grays, and interesting objects all the way up to the last century.

Events and exhibitions

You can also travel back in time with eye-opening events and exhibitions of local history and other events organised by Thurrock Museum volunteers.
