All Thurrock libraries will be closed on Monday 6 May (Early May bank holiday) and Monday 27 May (Spring bank holiday). Libraries will be open at their usual times on all other days in May.
What's in your library
Board game and jigsaw loans
If you're a resident of Thurrock or Essex, you can use your library membership to borrow board games or jigsaws from Thurrock libraries.
Board games
If you have an adult library card, you can borrow board games for a small fee – check our current loan and renewal charges.
Our board games include Backgammon, Battleship, Cluedo, Game of Life, Jumanji, Pictionary, Risk, Scrabble, Trivial Pursuit and Twister, plus many more. You can borrow from a selection of these each at the following libraries – ask our library staff what's available:
Each board game can be borrowed for 1 week.
Jigsaws
Jigsaws can be borrowed free of charge from:
- Blackshots library
- Chadwell library – part of Chadwell Information Centre
- Corringham library
- Grays library
- Tilbury library – part of Tilbury Hub
Each jigsaw can be borrowed for up to 12 weeks.
Donate a board game or jigsaw
If you have a board game or jigsaw that has no missing pieces and is in good condition – box and pieces – you can donate it to any Thurrock library for the enjoyment of other library users.
We also accept jigsaw boards for 500 pieces or 1,000 pieces.
