Parking bays for disabled people

On request, and following an assessment, we will place parking bays outside or close to the houses of disabled people for Blue Badge holders to use.

The assessment will be carried out by the disabled person's occupational therapist - you should email to ask for an assessment:

  • the person lives in a dwelling that has no off-street parking

Bays will normally operate 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, although there will be only limited enforcement outside the working day. Any Blue Badge holder can use the bay.

Other parking for Blue Badge holders

Blue Badges allow disabled people to park on yellow lines under certain circumstances for up to 3 hours. Guidance on where to park is contained in Blue Badge scheme: rights and responsibilities in England, published by the Department for Transport.

We provide on and off-street parking bays for Blue Badge holders at central locations. We require that developers provide adequate designated car parking spaces for disabled people within new developments.
