Council tax support
From midnight to 1pm, Saturday 8 October, due to essential maintenance work our online services for benefits and managing council tax accounts will not be available. Please do not try to use these services during this time. We apologise for any inconvenience.
Whether you own your own home or pay rent, you must pay council tax.
Households on low income can get council tax support, including those who receive:
- income support
- job seeker's allowance
- employment support allowance
- pension credit
Council tax support replaced council tax benefit in 2013 as part of the government's welfare reforms.
